ACCESS CONTROL
|
Access Control is a system that uses electronic cards as "keys" to the facility. This system protects equipment, inventory and information by means of controlling employee access to certain areas. There is no longer the need to replace keys and locks when an employee is terminated. Simply delete the employee's electronic key in the database from gaining future access.

Instead of handing out actual metal keys to unlock doors, the loss prevention manager now issues "cards" similar in size to your credit card. These cards contain an id number unique for each employee and are either "swiped" through a reader or simply held in close "proximity" to a reader located next to the door to be opened. If it is determined that handling cards is too cumbersome, the manager may choose to issue "key-fobs" which are electronic keys that are about the size of a standard house key. These devices are very popular because they can be placed on a key ring with other keys. The user simply holds the "key-fob" close to the reader to unlock the door. The loss prevention manager can actually track card usage and activity by employee. |

These systems can also be designed to work in conjunction with your burglar and/or fire alarm system. For example, if a burglar breaks through an access control door, a signal can be sent to the burglar alarm control panel to sound an alarm. Also, if a fire occurs in the building, the doors can automatically unlock, allowing the occupants to escape safely.
|
If employee tracking within the building is necessary, the system can also be set up to provide reports which details the time employees arrive, which rooms they enter, and when they leave the building.
Whether your business is small or large, there are many options and opportunities available with Access Control.
